WORK IMMERSION LAS 1 Work Ethics

 Learning Activity Sheet 1

Work Ethics

Learning Competency: The learner demonstrates understanding of work immersion by discussing expected behavior and work ethics.

Work ethic is the belief that hard, diligent work has value to an individual. A strong work ethic may be viewed as a virtue that adds to a person's character. The following are common types of work ethic. (Mar, 2018)

 (Gopakumar, 2020)

1.         Productivity - Working with intensity to get as much as possible done within an hour, week or month. Productivity is also associated with improvement of methods, processes, practices, tools and systems to get more done with your time.

2.         Diligence – Working with care such that you try to produce high quality work. For example, a consultant who checks many sources to make sure their advice is sound.

3.         Reliability – Being available when you are needed or expected. For example, a real estate agent who is always a few minutes early for appointments.

4.         Responsibility – Taking responsibility for everything that falls within the scope of your role, authority, mission or objectives. For example, a restaurant server who doesn't know how to answer a customer's question about ingredients who goes back to ask the chef to make sure the customer gets an answer as opposed to answering "I'm not sure."

5.         Accountability – Taking the blame when things go wrong within the scope of your authority or influence. For example, a CEO who takes full accountability for an information security incident as opposed to blaming a low-ranking employee in IT. Directions: Inspect guidelines on what to do before, during and after a fire incident. Request for a family meeting. Ask your family who is most suitable to do each of the guidelines. Write your answers in your activity notebook with a short explanation. Check your work with the answer key at the end of this document.

Directions: Answer the guide questions in your activity notebook. Make sure to label you work. If you are having difficulties, you  may check the answer key at the end of this document.

Guide Questions: Answer in 1-3 sentences only in your activity notebook.

1.    Give a real-life example of each work ethic. The example may be that of someone you know.

2.    Which of these work ethics can you claim as your own? Cite examples that showcase your work ethic?

3.    How will work ethics help you become successful in life?

4.    In this regard, how are you expected to behave in the work place?
